I am planning to attend this years OwlCon, the Rice University sponsored game convention, in early February. I went ast year and had a good time, and I thought that going again would be a good idea. I went last year with two goals in mind, to play AT-43 and to play Crokinole. I played and bought both games.
Looking at the schedule for this year though, I didn’t see anything that was really jumping out at me as a must play event. Well, there was one thing, but I really didn’t think it was the thing for me. I has been about 5 years since I last played an actual game of Warhammer Fantasy, but it was sounding like so much fun that I have now decided to actually play in the Warhammer tournament at OwlCon. I must be crazy.
I have decided to play with my Beastmen Chaos army. I own all the needed miniatures, but they are not all assembled or painted. Here is that crazy bit again, because I am working on getting everything put together now, and I am considering making a run for a
mostly painted army. It will be tough to pull off, but I think I can make a pretty good dent in the army. I am planning to do a very basic base coat of paint and then using the minwax dipping technique to finish the army off fast.
I am excited to play, but the rules are quite a bit different from what I remember (and they are similar at the same time which makes things harder), but I think the event will be fun.
