It is no secret that I am a bit of a bookmarking nut. I have the crazy idea that I can catalog all of my favorite web sites (and web sites about everything I use, own or do) in a way that is perfect for me.
I try out pretty much every bookmarking service I can find. I try to make tools that are not really meant for bookmarking work (like Gmail and Windows Vista). There are a lot of great options out there, but I realized today that none of them have a feature that I think could be the killer feature for bookmarking.
I just bookmarked the site of an upcoming roleplaying game. It will be released in February. The game is not from a major publisher, so it is possible I will miss news of the release when it comes out. What would make the bookmark super useful is if it would remind me when the game is released. I will likely bookmark a 100 or more items between now and then, and having this bookmark bubble back up to the top would be very useful.
I would love to see a Today’s Bookmarks feature on the bookmarking sites. I think this would be a very cool Pro feature on Ma.gnolia. This feature would allow me to setup a reoccurrence or a specific date for a bookmark to be added to the Today’s Bookmarks list. I could set bookmarks up to appear daily, or weekly, or a specific date. When I look at my bookmarks I would see the ones that meet that requirement today. I might take this a step further. If I have a bookmark that I want to see once a week. I create it on a Tuesday. The following Tuesday it shows up in my Today’s Bookmarks List. I don’t get a chance to review it till Thursday. As soon as I click on it, my bookmark service resets the bookmark to show up the next Thursday.
I know that I have collected over 3000 bookmarks. With this many it is hard to remember to revisit the ones that are most important to me. I think this feature, or something similar, would make bookmarks even more useful.

You make some very good points here. I use del.icio.us and have collected about 1,500 bookmarks so far. I am constantly bookmarking.
