So I have been in need of a small mouse for use with my Dell 1420 laptop. I wanted something fairly small and portable and it had to be Bluetooth. Wireless mice are very cool, and using Bluetooth means I don’t have to plug in the adapter, which is a big plus.
I decided on the Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000. Couple of reasons I went with this mouse. 1. It was a small, 4 button mouse, with a small carrying case and batteries included. 2. It has an on/off switch which helps keep those batteries running. 3. It is a laser mouse and I wanted good performance on a variety of surfaces. 4. It is Bluetooth.
It arrived today, I love Amazon Prime, and I can report that I am thus far very satisfied with it. The mouse is small, but it fits comfortably in my hand. The wheel might be a tad to close for my fingers, but it is not bad. The buttons are all very responsive. Perhaps most importantly the mouse has a nice stylish look and feel to it.
I am running Vista Home Premium on this machine, and the mouse installed and configured without any issue. There is a small button on the bottom which puts the mouse into discovery mode and Windows did the rest. The mouse seems to work well on a variety of surfaces from the table I am at right now to the arm of the couch I was at earlier.
If you are in the market for a nice, portable, Bluetooth mouse you could do worse than this one.

I like the specs, but I don’t like the look of it. I’ve never cared for those sculpted mice. I like the old kind that are rounded like a bar of soap. I don’t want something that fits my hand, I want something that my hand can seek out because it has its own shape. But still… I would consider it. I’d like to have a bluetooth mouse to go with my new laptop.
I know what you mean on the “sculpted” mice. This one is quite small, and it is hard to tell that it has that slight rise in it. This one is nothing like the monster BT mouse they sell with the keyboard/mouse combo set. That thing is enormous.
