Miniatures Game Board Crazy

My office/game room/play room has been over run with not one, not two, but three tables setup for miniatures gaming. I guess you could say I have the bug for a bit of miniatures action. It started innocently enough playing around with the idea of skirmish boards for Heroscape. I built a couple, didn’t like them much, and merged them into a single board. That was about a week ago.

A couple nights later I decided to drag my Dwarven Forge stuff out of the closet, and build a map/board for D&D miniatures. I think it turned out pretty good. I am considering ordering a few extra floor pieces (the big ones) to make more rooms for D&D miniatures. I threw a few mini’s into this dungeon but I have not played on the map yet. I think this is the way to play D&D miniatures. I really am not a huge fan of the paper maps.

Dwarven Forge for D&D Miniatures

On Thursday night I grabbed out yet another table, and started with the idea of a board for playing Reaper’s Warlord. Fantasy skirmish games are my favorite for terrain, and I figured anything that would work for Warlord would work for Hordes or Warmachine as well. I only had a card table left so the board is 3×3…sufficient for a small game. Back to the close and out comes my river, bridge, a couple of MBA houses and a load of trees. A few snips with the scissors later and some “foresty” looking fabric has become a number of forest spots. The forests are complete with many trees and even someones camp. A couple of walls rounds off a pretty crowded 3×3. I would not want to bring a heavy shooting army on this board.

More pictures are lingering on Flickr. I sometimes wonder if I like making up the tables more than I do playing on them.
