New Music Friday - Episode Two

Week two of New Music Friday is here, and it was a great week scouring the web for new music. I wrote a little earlier this week about Amie Street, and linked to music by Asobi Seksu. I am pretty sure they will be topping my weekly most listened to chart as I am really liking the music on both their albums. New Music Friday for this week features three new to me bands including Asobi Seksu, so lets dive right in and get to the music.

Rock MeLast week I promised an artist for Tracy Bonham fans, and when I listened to some tracks from Natalie Long that was who I immediately thought of. Perhaps more so because of the music than the vocals, but still what we have here is a good rock album. Natalie hails from the United Kingdom, and is joined by band members Neil Thom (guitar/vocals), Rob Thom (bass/vocals) and Glen Child (drums). If you like the traditional rock sound Natalie is worth a listen.

AtlantisThe second track for the week, is a bit of New Age Electronica. Technetium originally wrote music for video games, so it is fitting here on a blog partially about gaming. Something about the track Run Away really clicked with me. A set of rather haunting vocals on top of music that makes my mind think of someone running down an endless hallway. Interesting track, very interesting band and certainly worth checking out.

CitrusI am not sure what it is about Asobi Seksu that is making it such a hot play list item for me right now. I am a huge fan of the vocals, switching between English and Japanese, but it is more than that. The music itself switches between rock and pop, and it sorta reminds me of Pink Floyd in places. Perhaps thats just me though. The track Thursday is a great showcase for the vocals of this New York band, with music more on the pop side of things.
