Dungeoneer is a great card game if you are one for the fantasy adventure genre. It has always had a RPG feel to it, and now Goodman Games is publishing Dungeoneer Adventures, and RPG based on the card game. A design article has been published over on the Goodman Games forum, and it gives a nice little peak at how the game will run.
In the card game players use peril and glory points to bring both good and bad cards into the game. Basically, each player takes a turn being hero and dungeon master. A similar concept is being introduced into the RPG, only the DM does not rotate. Instead players gain peril based on the decisions they make. If you don’t piss off to many NPC’s you will be low on peril and the encounters you face will be…well less perilous. Take the time to stab a few people in the back and you might just find yourself face to face with the Lich Lord.
Love the card game, like what Goodman Games has done with the Dungeon Crawl Classics, I am sure I will pick this game up.
