Mongoose Publishing announced a radical switch yesterday for its Starship Troopers miniatures game. Moving away from the traditional build and assemble models to pre-painted plastic models. I have always been interested in playing the Starship Troopers game, but I simply don’t have time to assemble and paint models anymore. I liked the movie, and I have listened to the book via an Audible download. The game was always intriguing to me, and it does get good reviews for the rule set. Its sounds like they have put a lot of thought into both the change, and the models themselves. They are apparently using a stronger plastic than you find in the typical WizKids or WOtC miniatures, they call it war gamer grade plastic. That should be nice. The pictures, which you can view in the link below, show some very nice detail and the paint looks great. I am excited, and look forward to purchasing the game when it releases in April.
One other item of note, is that Mongoose is also about to announce a new pre-painted miniatures game based in WWII. The same link discusses the game and the models briefly. This could be interesting. The game uses a similar rule set to that used in Starship Troopers.
