Xbox 360 details August 17, 2005

I am sure this is well known by now, but they have released the details for XBOX360 pricing. It seems to be inline with the estimates that have been floating around. I have been trying to decide if it is worth the $399.99 to get the full blown package. I don’t currently have an HDTV to hook the 360 up to. I don’t trust the system on my rear projection. The faceplate is a waste of money in all of the systems, I would love to bypass that. For $299.99 I get the wired controller which I like ( I have some wireless controllers now and do no like them), but don;t get the hard drive which I would want. With the hard drive costing $99.00 perhaps just going with the big system and purchasing a wired controller is the way to go.

Then again, maybe I don’t need a new XBOX. I still have a dozen games for the first XBOX that I have not finished yet.

I figure once the new system comes out, all the kiddies will take their original X-Box games and systems, and trade them in for credit on the 360. At that point, all those trade-ins will be sold for a song.

A friend of mine reports great success at waiting for the sequel for a game to come out. He’s really into the original Halo, which he picked up for $12 or so after Halo 2 became the new hot game.

Also, you might consider listing those dozen games on Half.com and seeing if anyone takes the bait. Last week, I got $6 for a copy of Fallout 2 for PC, nothing but the CD, which blows my mind.

Good to see some other adult gamers in SCR. We’re in Kelsey Point. My wife and I game via Xbox Live with friends from Illinois (where we moved from) and Florida. We primarily enjoy co-op, with our current favorite being GRAW.
